Pohnpei Pilot Farm Project. A collaborative effort with Pohnpei Agriculture.
This is a genebank collection of varieties of many Pohnpei traditional
and locally grown foods, focusing on banana, breadfruit, giant swamp taro,
common taro (Colocasia), and pandanus. See KP news article.
Headstart Interagency Workshop Series, January to February 2004.
All Headstart Centers were visited in order to communicate the message about
high nutrient content in the Yellow Varieties of local foods and the health
benefits of these varieties and other health messages. See KP news article.
Documentation of local food crops: Giant swamp taro database.
This project worked with farmers to collect the names and primary identifying characteristics of Pohnpei giant swamp taro (mwahng) and of outer islands.

Youth to Youth. Conservation of Rare Banana Varieties.
This is a project led by the Conservation Society of Pohnpei, in collaboration with
cooperating elementary schools, Class 6 children. The project was carried out in
Wone in 2003/2004 and in Seinwar in 2004/2005.
Pohnpei Small-scale Food Processing Workshop, October 2004.
Over 100 participants took part in this workshop facilitated by Dr. Richard Beyer.
It focused on aspects of food handling, product development, and marketing.
